In March of 2018, I worked closely with Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii. A few months after he passed away, I left Los Angeles and moved back to my spiritual community in Fairfield, Iowa where I spent several months resting and recovering. One morning, as I sat down and closed my eyes to meditate, a song came to me. I could hear and see it so clearly. It was so beautiful and powerful. I am not a musician, but I recorded my interpretation of it with a producer friend of mine at the time.

I made the video (above) during the week leading up to the 1 year anniversary of Tim’s death, using a few materials I had on hand: a square of tissue paper taped to my phone’s camera lens and a string of Christmas lights from the dollar store. I was on a very tight budget. I hope to eventually properly record it and include all of the verses, vocals, and instrumentation how I originally heard it that morning. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this heartfelt tribute to Tim and share it and buy it so we can collectively make a donation to the Tim Bergling Foundation.

My hope is to someday donate more to the Tim Bergling Foundation. At this time, I am donating 25% from the sales of this song, rather than 100%, because I suffered a major health crisis in the wake of Tim’s passing and am still recovering from the impact it had on my health and my life. I recently quit my job so that I can more fully recover because I was unable to walk for a couple months in late 2022.

After Tim died by suicide in 2018, I did not sleep well. Most nights I would be lucky if I got more than 1-2 hours of sleep. Like many people, I was traumatized by his death and, unfortunately, it greatly exacerbated my health issues. In addition to the challenges I faced in the wake of his death, I also had several amazing and beautiful experiences that have significantly changed my life.

To get a deeper insight into some of the experiences I had in the months following Tim’s passing, watch “Why spoke with GQ about Avicii” and the following videos:
